An everlasting
journey.
A life in motion.
A maverick entrepreneur and bona fide inventor, Sanjay Shyamanur transformed the lives of people across India and around the world through trailblazing ventures spanning multiple industries and disciplines.
In the early 1990s, Sanjay built one of India’s earliest digitally native companies, with a business spanning computer distribution and training, digital publishing, animation, and media production.
His groundbreaking R&D and relentless championing of LPG as a cooking fuel and CNG for mobility transformed the livelihood of lakhs of people while improving air quality for crores in cities around the world. His representations to the International Standards Organisation laid the groundwork for a hydrogen energy stack that will power our world tomorrow.
Sanjay also pioneered and demonstrated some of the earliest protocols for digital payments, unique identity, and real-time compliance; two patents were granted in his name for this work, with many still under review.
A lifelong philanthropist, Sanjay served as president of his Rotary International chapter, where he was globally recognized as a Major Donor.
He credited his love of nature to his joyous upbringing in the picturesque foothills of Chikmagalur and his early days as a naturalist with the WWF.
Ever charming and living larger than life, Sanjay had a spirit no one who met him could forget. A true first-principles thinker and an engineer’s engineer, he had a gift for anticipating major technology trends years—sometimes decades—before they emerged.
He placed his values above all else: courage, optimism, empathy, love of nature, and a spirit of enterprise. The Foundation will remain in perpetual service of the principles he so deeply believed in and exemplified.
Our goal is to progress far beyond anything we can imagine today while remaining deeply rooted in what truly defines us as a planet. Through its initiatives, we hope the Foundation inspires every life it touches to embrace and celebrate the beautiful ethos that defined his wondrous life.
